Your Sax Trainer · Last updated 18 August 2026
The short version. Your Sax Trainer works without an account and keeps your data on your device. Microphone audio is analysed in real time on your phone and is never uploaded. Analytics and crash reporting are switched off unless you turn them on. We do not sell your data, show ads, or build advertising profiles.
Your Sax Trainer ("the app", "we", "us") is a saxophone practice app for Android and iOS. For any privacy question or request, contact us at yoursaxtrainer@gmail.com. We are the data controller for the limited data described below.
The app needs microphone access to recognise the notes you play. This is the core function of the app and it works as follows:
You can withdraw microphone permission at any time in your device's system settings. The note-recognition features will stop working, but the rest of the app remains usable.
The app keeps the following on your device only, so that it can show your progress:
We cannot see any of this. If you use the export feature, a backup file is created and handed to your device's share sheet; where it goes from there is entirely your choice.
Both are disabled by default. Nothing is collected unless you explicitly opt in, and you can change your mind at any time under Settings → Privacy.
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used, so we can improve the app. Events are limited to app usage, for example: a practice session started or completed and its mode and duration, a test or song completed and the accuracy, an achievement unlocked, and screen views. Firebase also collects standard technical information such as device model, operating system version, language, country, and a randomly generated app instance identifier. We never attach your name, email, or contact details, because we do not have them.
We use Google Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes, it sends a diagnostic report containing the error, the stack trace, and device and OS information so we can fix the bug.
For both, Google acts as our processor and may process the data outside your country, including in the United States, under the safeguards described in Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase's privacy documentation.
On iOS, the system may ask whether the app can track you across other companies' apps and websites. We do not run advertising and do not track you for advertising purposes. If you decline, nothing about the app changes.
The app offers an optional premium subscription. Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store, and we never see or store your card details, billing address, or payment credentials.
To know whether your subscription is active, we use RevenueCat, which receives a randomly generated anonymous app user identifier along with the purchase receipt from the store. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy. Your free-trial and free-session counters are stored on your device.
If you turn on practice reminders, they are scheduled locally by your device. No reminder data leaves your phone, and we cannot send you push messages. You can disable them in the app or in your system settings.
The app is suitable for general audiences but is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because the optional analytics are off by default and no account is required, a child using the app with default settings sends us nothing. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent.
Our legal basis for the optional analytics and crash reporting is your consent. For processing your purchase status, it is the performance of our contract with you. Contact yoursaxtrainer@gmail.com to exercise any right; we aim to respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
On-device data stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Analytics data, if you opted in, is retained according to our Firebase configuration and Google's defaults, and no longer than 14 months. Crash reports are retained up to 90 days.
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and revise the date above. Material changes will also be highlighted in the app.
